New Voter’s Guide out proving Romney is Still Pro-Abortion!

Warning to Pro-Life Voters!

There are a number of “Voter’s Guides” circulating around the pro-family/pro-life movement that contain inaccurate information regarding Mitt Romney’s record on abortion.  These Voter’s Guides are based upon information submitted by the candidates, a notoriously inaccurate way to assess them.  A far more accurate way to determine whether a politician will vote correctly on pro-life issues is her or her actual record.  The two largest groups engaged in distributing inaccurate Voter’s Guide are the Family Research Council and the National Right to Life PAC.

This type of Voter’s Guide easily can be “gamed” by candidates seeking pro-life support; indeed, a candidate who owned abortion clinics could fill out a Voter’s Guide questionnaire “correctly” and thereby be portrayed as pro-life. The failure to create Voter’s Guides based on a candidate’s actual abortion record has led to the election of candidates who have not always voted pro-life.   Regarding Romney, there is a huge difference between his actual record and what he says on the campaign trail.

It is possible that a politician could change his views on abortion.  Thus, we have decided to judge Romney based only on his actions on abortion since his very public pro-life “conversion” in November, 2004.  Here is what we found:

2004 – 2007.  Romney invested in stem-cell research. Romney invested in Novo Nordisk and Millipore, two companies involved in stem-cell research. He also had investments in Warner Chilcott, the firm that produces Loestrin, an abortifacient.  (1)  Romney maintained investments in these companies for three years after his “conversion” but never bothered to instruct his trust manager to avoid investing in anti-life companies until after it became public knowledge. (2)

2004 – 2007, Romney promoted Planned Parenthood’s clinics on his Dept. of Health website during his entire term of office.  Under “family planning services,” Romney’s Dept. of Health appointees listed and promoted nearly every abortion clinic in the state, including those operated by Planned Parenthood.  An archived picture of the Dept. of Health website can be found in the footnotes.(3)

2005. Romney refused to advance the pro- life agenda while Governor, even after his “conversion.” Yes, the Massachusetts legislature was and is controlled by the Left, but regardless, Romney made little to no effort to fight for pro-life issues or even fight against pro-abortion causes. Indeed, shortly after his ”conversion,” Romney even boasted about “successfully” ignoring pro-life issues in a video clip now on You Tube:  “I am absolutely committed to my promise to maintaining the status quo with regards to laws relating to abortion and choice and so far I’ve been able to successfully do that….”(4)

Romney Bashes Perry On Immigration Issues, Hides Liberal Immigration Record

Flip:

Those that are here paying taxes and not taking government benefits should begin a process towards application for citizeship….

                                                                                                                                                                 Mitt Romney, March, 2006 (1)

 Flop:

I don’t think there should be a pathway to citizenship for people who are here illegally.

                                                                                                                                                                              Mitt Romney, March 2007 (2)

One of the top issues in the 2012 presidential campaign is illegal immigration and the candidate who has most taken advantage of this issue is Mitt Romney.  His campaign team has decided that this will be the main issue used to defeat Governor Rick Perry due mainly to Perry’s support for in-state tuition rates for illegal alien students.

Indeed, Romney’s numerous consultants and image makers created a myth during the 2008 GOP presidential campaign that Romney had a conservative record on this issue, and this myth making has continued through the current campaign.  What’s troubling is many of America’s leading conservative pundits and mainstream reporters accepted this mythology with no questions asked.  However, nearly all of Romney’s “hard-line” positions on immigration policy appear to be phony since only a few years earlier his positions were different. It is clear Romney’s positions have been either created solely for his presidential campaigns or were based upon events that simply never occurred.

Indeed, the immigration quotes Romney’s media team have released during both presidential campaigns appear as if they were written by pollsters after carefully testing the effect they would have upon the voters.  They certainly do not sound even remotely like the statements Governor Romney would have made just a few years earlier.

During the ’08 campaign, Romney released, with much fanfare, an immigration reform plan that called for strengthening border enforcement, extending the border fence, implementing an enforceable employer verification system, increasing fines for employers who hired illegal workers, rejecting amnesty, deporting all criminal illegal aliens, and eliminating federal funding for “sanctuary cities.” (3)

Indeed, Governor Romney’s campaign speeches also sounded very conservative:

You’ve got to have a wall or fence or electronic surveillance. You have got to make sure we secure our border, that’s first. (4)

And he was very strong in the words he chose to oppose the amnesty legislation championed by his main primary opponent in the ’08 campaign, Senator John McCain:

’m against an amnesty and against anything that provides an incentive for people to come here   illegally. (5)

But the reality is that Romney’s record as governor was very different from the image his consultants have created for the 2008 and 2012 primaries.  Do we determine a man’s worldview by his actual record?  Or do we base our opinions of him upon statements made during a campaign?  It would be wise to choose the former and not the later.

Romney Personally Issued Marriage Licenses to 189 Same-Sex Couples

Every since Mitt Romney first tossed his hat into the presidential sweepstakes in 2007, he has  repeatedly maintained that he opposes same-sex marriages and has always portrayed himself as a champion of traditional marriage.

However, in an incident that has gone mostly unreported, Romney, as Governor of Massachusetts, personally issued at least 189 one-day special marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2005. He likely issued a similar number of licenses in both 2004 and 2006 but the state records for these years are not easily available. One-day marriage licenses are in effect permits issued to a couple allowing them to designate anyone they choose to officiate at the wedding.  These special one-day marriage licenses are not to be confused with the thousands of regular marriage licenses granted to same-sex couples by Justices of the Peace and town clerks by order of Governor Romney in the aftermath of the Goodridge same-sex marriage decision.

More than any other action by Romney, these special licenses demonstrated where his heart was on the same-sex marriage issue since they were purely discretionary. There was no mandate forcing Romney to issue such licenses.  This calls into question his authenticity as an alleged social conservative candidate.

Romney began issuing the one-day marriage licenses shortly after the Massachusetts Supreme Court issued the Goodridge homosexual marriage decision. The court urged the legislature to codify its decision but to this day, this has never occurred.  The marriage statutes on the books today remain the same – only male/female marriages are legal.

Incredibly, even though the state legislature never codified the Goodridge decision, Gov. Romney unilaterally ordered his Department of Public Health to print new marriage licenses for same-sex couples and ordered all Town Clerks and Justices of the Peace to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples or lose their jobs.

Indeed, many constitutional attorneys have opined that Romney is the father of gay marriage in America since he was never compelled by the court to implement gay marriage and the Massachusetts constitution is clear that only the legislature can alter the marriage statutes.

Professor Scott Fitzgibbon of Boston College Law School wrote that the Goodridge decision “did not mandate that the executive branch issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.” Constitutional scholar Herb Titus said that Romney “exercised illegal legislative authority” and added “there was no order.  There wasn’t even any order to the Department of Public Health to do anything.” Matt Staver, Dean of Liberty Law School, said that Romney “went out and ordered to licenses to be changed, and if fact, that’s not his duty.  His duty was to abide by the legislature….the governor actually participated, in my opinion, in advancing same-sex marriage.”

Book Review: “Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters? The Mormon Church Versus The Office Of The Presidency of the United States of America.” by Tricia Erickson

Tricia Erickson is the daughter of a Mormon Bishop and is thus far more familiar with the history and rituals of the Mormon faith than most. Currently, Erickson is a public relations professional and a political commentator. The book, as the author describes it, is “an in-depth exposé into the political, personal and religious life of presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.”

Many of us who have opposed Romney for many years have attacked him as a phony conservative due to his long record of implemented liberal policies. Indeed, a good portion of Erickson’s book covers Romney’s history of promoting liberal social and fiscal policies.   But what makes her book unique is that it also reveals information about the Mormon Church that causes one to question whether one can be loyal to both the LDS church and to the United States Constitution. This is a very sensitive area that many writers have avoided.  But as a former Mormon, Erickson is able to write about this topic in a way that very few can. What many people don’t realize is that the LDS church requires oaths of all temple members that takes precedent over all other oaths – including the oath taken when one becomes president of the United States.

The first time I ever gave any thought about how Romney’s religion could impact his presidency was during the 2008 presidential campaign.  There was a press conference at the Washington Press Club sponsored by a handful of former prominent Mormons, at which details were shared about a Mormon prophecy called the “White Horse prophecy.” This prophecy predicts America will eventually collapse and that in the aftermath of this chaos, a Mormon will take charge and ultimately turn America into a Mormon theocracy.  Yes, all LDS members believe in this prophecy– its required.  One of the leaders of the press conference was Romney’s former fraternity brother and he made clear that Romney actually believes his candidacy is fulfilling this prophecy. It was all very spooky.

Erickson’s book also covers the White Horse prophecy and a variety of other Mormon rituals that call into question where Romney’s allegiances lie.  As Erickson states, “While he attempts to portray Mormonism as just another Christian Religion, Mitt Romney counts on his skills to shift our attention away from what he truly believes. If the American people knew what he truly believed, they would surely not place him in the highest office in the land.”

Book Review: “Mitt Romney’s Deception, His Stealth Promotion of Gay Rights and Gay Marriage in Massachusetts” by Amy Contrada

This book has been in the making for several years.  The author is Amy Contrada, clearly the nation’s top expert on the Romney governorship in regards to his obsessive promotion of the homosexual agenda.

Contrada holds a B.A. summa cum laude (Tufts University), an M.A.T. (Brown University), and a Diploma in Violin Making. She is a 40-year resident of Massachusetts. Contrada has been a reporter, researcher, writer, and office staffer for the pro-family organization MassResistance (Waltham, MA) since 2004.

It is gratifying to finally read a book that penetrates the cloud of propaganda that the media, the establishment Republicans, and yes, even some so called “conservative” leaders have woven around Mitt Romney and his past. Mitt Romney’s Deception documents in great detail how Romney was clearly the most pro-homosexual governor in American history – of either party!  For a man to pull off what he did – including dramatically advancing the cause of homosexual marriage — and still campaign for president as a “pro-family” conservative,  demonstrates not only his arrogance, but the length to which many Republican leaders have gone to cover up for this man.

It’s high time all Americans find out who the real Mitt Romney is. Candidates should be judged by their past actions, not by their campaign rhetoric.  This book documents actions by Romney that will shock you to your core.   The depths that Romney went to force the homosexual lifestyle on our children almost borders on the psychotic.  Contrada details how Romney supported the homosexual and transgender agenda on same-sex “marriage,” promoted this dangerous lifestyle to school children and advocating societal transformation in regards to same-sex culture – all while posing as a defender of the Constitution and traditional family values.

Much of what Contrada writes about has never been revealed in the mainstream press.  Here are a few highlights:

* How Romney unconstitutionally implemented same-sex “marriage,” thereby dramatically advancing the same-sex  marriage battle nationwide.

* How Romney followed a constitutional amendment strategy doomed to failure, while ignoring the possibility of removing the judges who ruled for same-sex “marriage.”

*How Romney undermined the principle of religious freedom and failed to defend Catholic Charities when they refused to allow homosexual couples to adopt children in accordance with the Christian principles.

*How Romney implemented radical homosexual and transgender programs in his Department of  Social Services and Department of Public Health.

*How Romney funded and promoted homosexual and transgender indoctrination in the public schools through his Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth and his Department of Education “Safe Schools” programs.

*How Romney appointed and promoted homosexual judges, homosexual staff, and homosexual candidates, all of whom were committed to destroying traditional marriage.

*How Romney financially contributed to radical homosexual groups.

*How Romney worked directly with radical homosexual activists to promote their self-defined “rights.”

Romney front groups such as “Evangelicals for Romney” have tried for years to pooh-pooh this information, claiming that conservatives were making all this stuff up.  As a result, Contrada has made sure everything is documented. Indeed, the book has over 900 detailed footnotes. It also includes a compendium of Romney’s public statements related to “gay rights,” a detailed timeline covering Romney’s implementation of same-sex marriage, and many previously unpublished photographs. It is a unique resource by an activist on the front lines of the culture war during Romney’s term as Governor.

I highly recommend the book. It can be ordered from Amazon here.

Is Mitt Romney The Father of Gay Marriage? Twenty-Four Reasons Why He Is

By Rino Hunter

As Mitt Romney prepares for his second presidential campaign and gay marriage threatens to undermine America’s Judeo-Christian culture, there’s a raging debate about the role he played in instituting gay marriage in Massachusetts during his gubernatorial term. This is important because Governor Romney has positioned himself as a champion of traditional values and claims to have been an opponent of homosexual marriage his entire career.

When the Massachusetts Supreme Court issued a decision in favor of homosexual marriage, — the Goodridge case — Romney unilaterally ordered his state agencies to implement homosexual marriage in Massachusetts. The court did not order him to do this nor had the legislature codified this ruling.  Combined with a promise by President Obama to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act, this action by Romney has led significantly contributed to the spread of homosexual marriage nationwide.

Make no mistake; Romney’s action was utterly illegal.  In four different parts of the Massachusetts Constitution, it is clearly stated that only the legislature can change laws and one section specifically states that the marriage statutes are determined by the legislature, not by the courts.  Even the Supreme Court itself stated that it could not order the legislature to act.  All Romney had to do was to declare the court had no authority to enforce its unconstitutional opinion and ignore its decision.

But instead of doing that, Romney abruptly claimed the court opinion was now the law of the land and ordered his Town Clerks and Justices of the Peace to marry homosexuals — even though the legislature never acted to codify the ruling.  Indeed, according to a Fox News/AP story, the attorney for the homosexual plaintiffs in Goodridge, held the view that the legislature would have to codify the Goodridge ruling:

Attorney Mary Bonauto, who represented the plaintiffs, said the only task assigned to the       Legislature is to come up with  changes in the law that will allow gay couples to marry. (1)

Thus, Romney violated his oath to uphold the state constitution.  Indeed, while there have been numerous attempts by the legislature to codify homosexual marriage SINCE the Goodridge decision, the original marriage statutes remain unchanged. (2). The flatly illegal charade of “gay” marriage exists solely in Massachusetts due to Governor Romney’s illegal actions.  By ordering Town Clerks to participate in the solemnization of illegal marriages, it is clear Romney violated the state constitution.
